To place your name on the referral list you will dial 1-800-735-1829.
When it answers you will be prompted to press 1 for English or 2 for Spanish, then it will ask for your UBC ID number. Put in all eight digits. No dashes, no U.
It will then ask for your four-digit pin number. If this is the first time calling the system, your four-digit pin will be the last four of your Social Security number. You will be asked to change this to another four-digit number during the call, so have another number ready that you can remember. You’ll put in the last four of your social and it will welcome you to the Mix2020 system and then ask you to record your voice for security purposes.
Follow the directions and say your name into the phone when instructed and wait for it to play it back. There will be a long pause before it plays it back so be patient. After it plays back your name the system will now require you to change your pin to another four-digit number. Follow the directions, it’s very simple.
Next it will ask if you would like to register the phone you are calling from with the system along with an explanation. The condensed version is anytime you call from a registered phone it will recognize that phone number as being associated with your UBC ID and only require you to enter your pin to gain access to the system. Press 1 to register, otherwise press 2.
Then the system will ask you a similar question about receiving text messages. Again, follow the directions. After this, the system will say, “If you are out of work and wish to be eligible to receive job dispatch calls press 1 otherwise press 2”. After pressing 1 it will tell you that you are on the referral list as of January 10th, 2022, or whatever the current date is the day of your call. Once you hear that, you know you are on the referral list and can hang up or navigate further through the system.
In order to maintain your Ready to Work date, the system requires you to renew your Ready to Work status at least once every thirty (30) days. You will call the same number, but it will say “you are currently on the referral list and eligible to receive job dispatch calls, to renew your status and remain on the list press 1”. It is recommended that you do this step once a week while you are out of work, but you cannot exceed 30 days, otherwise you will be removed from the list. Remember, there are 31 days in some months so this is not a once a month requirement, but a 30-day requirement. This is an automated system and will renew your status every day you call. You can call more often but do not exceed 30 days unless you are working.
